Editorial standards

Nurture is a climate wellness resource. This page logs major site updates, editorial corrections, known limitations, and source improvements. We aim to use authoritative, peer-reviewed, primary, or expert sources for every environmental and mental-health claim. When content is incomplete, under review, corrected, or improved, we note it here.

Recent updates

  • May 12, 2026 — Launched the Site Updates & Editorial Notes page; merged the 'About This Survey' and 'About This Data' sections on the Climate Opinion comparison results into a single transparent block citing Yale and George Mason's Climate Change in the American Mind: Beliefs & Attitudes (Fall 2025), conducted November 6–14, 2025; expanded the Climate Opinion Survey from 12 to a fuller question set; switched the site router to clean URLs and enabled static prerendering of all major public routes so crawlers and AI tools can read the actual page content without executing JavaScript.
  • April 20, 2026 — Added Your Local Climate (real EPA AQS air quality and NASA/NOAA VIIRS light-pollution data by U.S. ZIP code). Noted the EPA AQS reporting lag (~1 year).
  • March 15, 2026 — Rebranded EcoWell to Nurture across all pages and metadata. Updated favicon. Added Spanish-language support; the Spanish translation is currently machine-assisted and not yet reviewed by a native speaker.
  • February 10, 2026 — Replaced the original eco-anxiety questionnaire with the validated Climate Anxiety Scale (CAS, 2020) by Dr. Susan Clayton. Removed dummy/simulated values from environmental features.
  • January 25, 2026 — Added the Carbon Footprint calculator with a U.S. national-average comparison; corrected emission factors after an initial pass produced unrealistic totals.
  • December 15, 2025 — Redesigned the Mood Tracker around binary positive/negative emotion classification (no intensity slider). Added Recharge and Good News.
  • November 20, 2025 — Added user accounts with Google sign-in; enabled HIBP leaked-password protection and row-level security policies on all user data.
  • October 10, 2025 — WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility pass and SEO foundation (per-page metadata, Open Graph, Twitter cards, JSON-LD, sitemap, canonical tags).
  • September 25, 2025 — Added Climate Risk lookup with a methodology page, plus Breathing Exercises and Crisis Resources (including climate-specific support lines).
  • September 14, 2025 — Launched the site (originally as EcoWell) with the Eco-Anxiety Assessment and a Volunteer Opportunity finder covering real environmental organizations.
